For every music lover, there comes a time when true magic of sound is witnessed. It is the moment that rises when a musician becomes one with his instrument, whether it is a piano, guitar, violin, or in this case, the trumpet.

Imagine a blonde gentleman in a suit, exuding elegance and composure as he holds the instrument to his mouth. As he breathes life into it, his body is bent to portray the perfect poise of a trumpeter. His marble eyes are ensorcelled as a beautiful melody travels and hits every depth of the performance hall. A sound so enticing, so crystal-clear and pitch-perfect created from none other than Chris Botti.

Certainly, thousands of beholders on the night of the “2011 Chris Botti Live in Seoul” concert were enlightened. Skeptical members of the audience who had never truly been under the spell of a musician surely walked out of the Grand Theatre at Sejong Center as newfound believers. The concert was held on November 6th.

The band was comprised of extraordinary musicians including Billy Kilson on drums, Mark Whittfield on guitar, Andrew Ezrin on piano, and Carlos Peurto on contrabass. Guest violinist and guest vocalist added a feminine touch to the show.

American trumpeter and composer Christopher Stephen Botti is a world-renown musician with a long list of accomplishments. Having been nominated for various Grammy Awards, namely Best Pop Instrumental Album and Best Long Form Music Video, he is popular for combining pop and jazz in his captivating performances. Furthermore, with his charismatic personality and voice, he was also a radio show host for a jazz music.

When obliged by Botti’s stage presence, one could experience a strong resemblance of the sophisticated Frank Sinatra as well as an edgy Sting, both of whom he has worked and toured with in the past.

To add to the list, Botti has also shared the spotlight with amazing artists such as Yo Yo Ma, Steven Tyler, John Mayer, Aretha Franklin and many more. Many say that his versatility to have performed with such a diverse array of musicians in different genres places Botti in a class of his own.

There is no question about Botti’s expertise when it comes to the trumpet. However, his performance is something that when experienced firsthand will reach into your soul and expose a romance in you that you never knew existed. The trumpet will hypnotize you and make you feel as though you are falling in love at that very moment.

It is that moment in which man and instrument become one.
