The place where time still stands, ‘Baedari village’ 배다리 마을은 결코 쓸쓸하지 않습니다

The place where time still stands, ‘Baedari village.’ It is located near by Geumchang-dong Dong-gu Incheon where was formed by the refugees after the Korean civil war. ‘Baedari village’ is very famous place for many travelers to take a picture, because there are some old street, building when we could see in 1950~80.
When we are out at Dowon station, subway 1, there is a wall-drawing street where was drew by many Korean artists for this village. At the moment we pass by this street, it makes us feel free. It looks like huge street gallery. Also, there are two representative items for travelers, small steel robot of space beam(a name of art gallery), and the street of secondhand bookstore as the landmark of ‘Baedari village.’ Now, there are just 5~6 secondhand bookstore include ‘Abel secondhand bookstore’, but there were almost 50 secondhand bookstores in 1950.
And ‘Baedari village’ was living foundation for late female novelist, Park Kyung Ri who was loved by Korean. An old street for concentration of the old buildings, ‘Woogakro’, ‘Sudoguksan shantytown museum’ makes sick for memory for travelers.
빛 바랜 앨범 속의 헤아릴 수 없는 추억이 내려 앉은 곳, 배다리 마을. 인천 동구 금창동 일대를 말하는 배다리 마을은 한국 전쟁 후, 피란민들이 모여들며 형성되었다. 국내외 여행객들의 출사장소로도 유명한 배다리 마을은 낡고 닳은 건물과 거리 등 세월의 흔적을 고스란히 간직한 곳이다.
지하철 1호선 도원역 2번 출구를 나서 알록달록한 색으로 채색된 벽화를 따라 걷다 보며 배다리 마을은 어느새 작은 갤러리를 변해있다. 또한 배다리 마을의 랜드마크로 불리는 갤러리 ‘스페이스 빔’의 양철 로봇과 헌책방 거리는 시간으로 환산할 수 없는 추억을 고스란히 품고 있다. 현재 아벨 서점을 비롯해 5, 6곳 정도의 헌책방이 남아있지만 6.25 전쟁 이후에는 50여 곳이 넘는 헌책방이 있었다. 2014년의 대한민국에서 1950년을 만난다면 기분이 이럴지도 모르겠다. 한마디로 묘하다.
또한 대한민국이 사랑하는 여류 소설가 고 박경리 선생의 삶의 터전이 배다리 마을이라는 것이 알려지면 많은 사람들의 관심을 받았다. 오래된 건물이 밀집해 있는 배다리 마을의 우각로, 달동네 모습을 재현한 ‘수도국산 달동네 박물관’ 등도 배다리 마을을 대표하는 추억거리이다.
