A book written by Jun Kyoung Rin consists of nine short stories. It seems like there are different stories but those stories are from the same root, woman’s life and dreariness.

There is an island called woman and also an oasis called love. Animals which are thirsty stop by for drinking water. Even fragile flowers and grass also gather near the oasis to survive. The hot sun and cold moon turn around the oasis to look at their reflection. The island feels proud of that crowded.
However, as time goes by, oasis loses its role like miracle. The oasis dries up and nothing comes to it. The island is desolate. it misses the hot sun and the cold moon but it can’t be helped. The island cannot help remembering and reviving old memories about its oasis like a dream.

Reading these stories, I feel like I reach a small island which is lonely and bleak but has remains which was beautiful once. Characters in stories are all women. And I can say they have an unfortunate destiny. However, a feast of symbolic images and surprisingly delicate expressions of writer make me rather feel jealous of character’s tough lives.

If you feel lonely, it’s good way to join this trip toward this small island. Some parts in this book can comfort us fully because there are sentences as warm as we can dump our very private feelings on it.

Jun Kyoung Rin’s novel, ‘An angel stays here’
