Finding happiness in her stories 꿈꾸는 동화작가, 고은별

“I realized that in the moment of sharing, I feel much happier than receiving. I may be an adult now but I wish to see the world in children’s eyes.” A Korean children’s book writer who always is in a happy dream, Goh Eun Byul.

In fact, she became a children’s book writer by chance. She was about 20 years old when she started going to orphanage as voluntary work because I like children. I was in charge of handling drawing session of “three Pigs” with children. The children were laughing and smiling so beautifully at her drawing. From the experience, it made me think about being a children’s book writer.

And as the professional children’s book writer, she released 3 books ‘The Fairy Queen’, ‘Paper Doll Collection’, ‘Pit a Pat I became a Princess’ from now on. Here, CultureM Magazine meets the children’s book writer who is drawing love & happiness, Goh Eun Byul

“받는 순간 보다 나누는 순간이 더 행복하다는 것을 알았습니다. 비록 어른이 되었지만 아이들의 눈으로 세상을 바라고 싶었습니다.” 행복한 꿈을 그리는 동화 작가, 고은별. 사실 그녀는 대학에서 경영학을 전공했지만 우연히 시작한 고아원 자원봉사 활동을 통해 동화 작가의 길을 걷게 된다. 함께 ‘아기 돼지 삼형제’를 읽으며 세상 가장 아름답고 순수한 눈으로 이야기에 집중하고 그녀의 그림을 보고 즐거워하는 아이들을 보며 웃음을 주고 희망을 심어줄 수 있는 사람이 되기로 결심한 것이다.

그렇게 그녀는 4년간의 준비 기간을 거쳐, 2011년 독립출판사 ‘캐트리오나’를 설립하며 첫 소설 ‘요정여왕’을 발간, 2014년 ‘종이 인형 놀이책’ 그리고 2015년에는 ‘두근두근 공주님이 되었어요’를 발간하며 동화 작가로서 활발할 작업 활동을 펼쳐오고 있다. 컬쳐엠매거진이 행복을 그리는 동화 작가, 고은별을 만났다.
