The Calligraphy exhibition, ‘Maumbuja’ by Park Byung Chul 박병철 개인전, ‘마음부자’

The Calligraphy exhibition 2014, ‘Maumbuja’(It means that a man who has a happy heart in Korean) by Park Byung Chul will be held from 20th January to 7th February 2014 at Rose gallery in Pyongchang-dong, Seoul, Korea. Calligraphist, Park Byung Chul is a handwriting artist who studies the shape characters of Korean(Hangeul). As you know, Korean is the most scientific writing system in the word, it was designated as National Treasure in UNESCO’s Memory of the world. He is famous for Gwanghwamun huge wording, and the shape characters of movie foster, also, he published three books about the shape characters of Korean. In this exhibition, Calligraphist, Park Byung Chul shows to the spectators many shape characters of Korean with his own illustration for celebrating 2014. For example, some wordings of dream, love, hope, some wise saying for overcome pain and trouble etc.

1월 20일부터 2월 7일까지 외환은행 평창동지점 로즈갤러리에서 캘리그라피스트 박병철의 캘리그라피전, ‘마음부자’가 개최된다. 박병철은 대한민국 고유언어인 한글의 아름다운 글꼴을 연구하는 글씨 예술가로 광화문 글판, 개인 전시회 등으로 다양한 활동을 하고 있다. 특히 이번 전시회는 2014년을 맞이하여 복된 삶의 꿈과 사랑, 희망의 말을 감성적인 그의 글과 글씨, 그림으로 채웠다. 붓으로 쓴 글씨를 컴퓨터로 옮겨와 그림과 함께 재 작업한 이번 전시는 일반적인 캘리그라피 작품과는 전혀 다른 차별적 실험과 도전의 결과물이기도 하다. 박병철의 이번 전시회는 한글의 예술화와 아름다움의 가치, 캘리그라피의 확장성을 보여주는 의미 있는 행사가 될 것이다.
