In Search of Timbuktu Forest in a Lucid Dream팀북투 숲을 찾아서, 작가 구나영

Artist Gu Na Young creates forests by ink wash painting. It is an East Asian type of brush painting that uses black ink. Using this traditional method she expresses imaginary ideal landscapes that exist deep in her mind that she now wishes to go. The forests she paints are named ‘Timbuktu’ and it is where she gets comfort and inspiration. Now she invites us to ‘Timbuktu’ CultureM Magazine meets Gu Na Young who is having a solo exhibition ‘Mindscape’ at uJung Art Center.

먹빛 숲으로 그려진 내면의 풍경. 그 곳에는 작가 구나영의 이야기가 숨어있다.  마주한 그녀의 작품 속에는 끝없이 펼쳐진 숲이 있다.  모든 사람의 이상향 속에 존재하는 원더랜드를 향한 동경은 그녀 자신을 작가로 활동하게 만든 가장 큰 원동력이다.  먹과 한지로 그려낸 영원한 안식의 ‘팀북투’ 숲 위를 자유롭게 날아다니며 오롯이 위안을 위한 장소로 재창조하고 있는 작가, 구나영. 현재 유중아트센터에서 개인전 ‘Mindscape’를 열고 있는 구나영 작가를 컬쳐엠매거진이 만났다.
