‘The moon where you live’ 시인 권대웅이 묻습니다, “당신이 사는 달은 어떤가요?”

The new buds are appearing, and the cherry trees and forsythias are in bloom as well. People change their clothes for spring, looking out the window at the beautiful scenery in the bus. However, it is exceptionally cold this spring in Korea. The spring breeze is so cold.

‘The moon where you live’ written by Kwon Dae Woong is a prose about the moon which reflects our lives. Like a full moon without any corners, the book has different stories that anyone can sympathize. Moreover, there are sincere and trustworthy messages for those who are standing on the edge of a precipice feeling sad and painful.

A boat set a sail is leaving for the beautiful moon surrounded little twinkle stars. Far away, our moon(earth) seems so small that everything is clustered each other. They are vacantly looking at the leaving boat. When my eye is filled with tears to see that page faintly, the poem and picture are taken deeply to my heart.

I crossed the moon on a boat.

I have only meandered around two turns but

I have already long forgotten the way back to your house.

My memory became hazy before it flew away, disappearing into the sky.

At sunset I felt an aching pain penetrating deep into my bones.

Like a beetle buzzing around whilst gazing at the soft glow of the setting sun.

The words I have yet to say merely hang at the back of my throat

like the moon during the day.

All that time I spent gazing listlessly into the distance,

I consider that to be time

I have spent with you.

The milky way holds stars even the fish had loved.

Will memories of their beautiful fins return,

if I close my eyes and turn my face to the moon?

In my life, I have only meandered through two turns.

The writer said that human being’s rational faculty of the mind and philosophy are originated from the moon. People depended on the moonlight through the night long before not knowing how to make a fire but today’s humans forgetting the moon and losing their sky of the night are complicated and don’t have a fertile imagination and space sense. Thus, they indulge in things only within his reach. As the energy gotten by the moon vanishing, the night gets brutal and violent and come into possession of people who commit power abuse. Even people forget completely the moon answers a person’s prayer.

The thing to talk about the moon and life is so pitiful.

새싹이 돋고 벚꽃이 흩날리고 노란 개나리들이 만개했다. 옷차림이 가벼워졌고 버스를 타고 지나는 창 밖의 풍경은 저마다 화려한 색으로 자태를 뽐낸다. 그러나 올해 대한민국의 봄은 춥다. 봄바람이 유난히도 차다.

권대웅 작가의 산문집 ‘당신이 사는 달’은 우리네 인생을 달을 통해 들여다보고 있다. 모난 데 없이 둥근 달처럼, 누구나 깊이 공감할 수 있는 이야기들이 오순도순 엮여있다. 뿐만 아니라 괴로움과 슬픔으로 벼랑 끝에 서서, 달빛도 별빛도 날카롭게만 느껴질 이들을 위한 진솔하고 허황되지 않은 위로와 응원의 글들이 구수하게 이곳 저곳에 담겨있다.

작은 돛을 단 배가 밝고 아름다운 달을 향해 간다. 반짝이는 작은 별들로 둘러싸인 달을 향해. 멀리 보이는 우리의 ‘달’은 아주 작고 좁아 옹기종기 모여 있다. 우두커니 떠나는 돛단배를 바라본다. 눈물에 반사되어 흐릿해 질 즈음, 권대웅 작가의 시와 시화가 가슴에 딱딱하게 새겨진다.

배를 타고 저 달을 건넜지요.

여울목을 두어 번 돌았을 뿐인데

당신과 살던 집으로 돌아가는 길을 까마득 잃어버렸지요.

기억이 날 듯 하다가 덜렁 다른 하늘 속으로 사라져버렸지요.

해질녘이면 뼈마디가 쑤시도록 아팠지요.

장수풍뎅이처럼 노을을 바라보며 붕붕거렸지요.

남아있는 말이 목젖에 환한 낮달처럼 걸려있었지요.

우두커니 물끄러미 있는 시간이 당신과 있는 시간이라고 생각했지요.

은하수에서 열목어가 사랑했던 별 지느러미가 너무 아름다웠던 기억들이

눈을 감고 저 달을 보면 보일까요?

저 생에서 두어 번 여울목을 돌았을 뿐이에요.

작가의 말을 빌리자면 “인간의 사유와 철학은 달에서 시작됐다. 불을 구하는 방법을 모르던 오래전, 인간은 긴긴 밤을 커다란 둥근 달빛에 의존했다. 그러나 달을 잊고 밤하늘을 잃은 오늘날의 사람들의 머리는 혼탁해졌다. 무한한 상상력과 공간감이 사라지고 바로 눈앞에 있는 것과 만질 수 있는 것만 탐닉했다. 달에게 받는 기운이 사라지면서 밤은 넘나드는 자들의 것이 되고 포악해졌다. 사람들은 달이 소원을 들어준다는 것도 까마득하게 잊었다.”

밤하늘의 달빛을 벗 삼아 밤을 포근하게 수놓으며 서로의 어둠을 밝혀주던 우리의 정서와 삶은 언제, 어디서부터 어떻게 변하게 되었을까. 토끼가 방아를 찧는다는 달의 이야기는 이제 인간들의 욕심과 잔인함으로 찢기지 않았던가. 저속하게 번쩍이는 조명 따위가 우리를 비추니, 그 고약한 빛에 눈이 멀고 있는 것은 아닐까.

달과 삶을 이야기하는 일이, 이토록 애잔하다.
