The healing travel to Zaanse Schans 자아를 찾아 떠나는 힐링 여행 3, 잔세스칸스

The Zaanse Schans is one of the highlights of the Netherlands, just outside Amsterdam. Be part of a vibrant and stunning living and working community that dates back to the 18th and 19th centuries. It’s packed with wooden windmills, barns, houses and museums and built in the typically Dutch wooden architectural style, relocated here piece by piece since 1961.

The Zaanse Schans will easily fill half a day. There is so much to see, taste, smell and experience. Take a walk through the stunning buildings and the unique peat meadow landscape. Come and watch traditional crafts such as clog and cheese making or visit the windmills and traditional buildings. Take a boat trip, dine in one of the restaurants or explore the shops and boutiques. The Zaanse Schans is one of the popular tourist attractions of the region and an anchor point of ERIH, the European Route of Industrial Heritage. The neighbourhood attracts approximately 900,000 visitors every year.

국토의 40%가 해수면 보다 낮은 나라, 네덜란드. 튤립과 풍차의 나라로 대변되는 네덜란드는 근접한 유럽 국가들처럼 천혜의 자연환경을 얻고 태어나지는 못했다. 하지만 사람의 손으로 만들어 낸 운하, 풍차 등이 지금의 네덜란드를 만들어 냈다고 할 수 있을 만큼 견고하고 아름다운 모습을 자랑하고 있다. 특히 네덜란드의 많은 명소 중에서도 잔세스칸스는 목가적인 풍경을 고스란히 간직하고 있는 조용하고 깨끗한 우리네 시골 같은 곳이다.

암스테르담에서 북쪽으로 13km 떨어진 동화 같은 분위기의 작은 마을, 잔세스칸스. 풍차 마을로도 잘 알려진 잔세스칸스는 18세기에는 700개가 넘는 풍차가 있었으나 산업혁명의 기계화에 밀려 지금은 관광용으로 몇 개만 남아 있다. 치즈 공장, 나막신을 만들어 파는 상점과 음식점, 산책로 등  전원 생활을 꿈꾸는 사람들을 위한 최적의 장소로 사랑받고 있다.
