ROVE magazine’s 2nd edition issue is DMZ. It is a strip of land running across the Korean Peninsula that serves as a buffer zone between South Korea and North Korea. In fat, millions of families were divided by the three-year Korean War, which ended in 1953, and have been barred from crossing the armed border dividing the two countries. Travel to the DMZ
The Korean Demilitarized, DMZ is closed by 15 cities and gun included Cheorwon, Yeoncheon, Incheon, Yanggu.
It is not guaranteed that these places are the most beautiful in the world or excellent.
But you can feel the only emotion with no parallel anywhere else in the world.
Whatever it is, it has already enough reason to travel there.

 DMZ로 떠나는 여행
DMZ는철원, 화천, 연천, 인천, 고성, 양구등 15개시, 군에 인접해있습니다.
그 지역들이 세상 어느 곳 보다 아름답거나, 대한민국의 어느 땅 보다 훌륭하다고 말할 수는 없습니다.
그러나 당신이 가본 그 어떤 곳에서도 겪지 못한 감정을 느낄 수 있습니다.
그게 무엇이든, 그것만으로 여행의 이유는 충분합니다.

At first, I distrust my own eyes. Whenever I pass ridgeline, I can encounter the Sahara desert, secret sea like Maya bay, and a steep cliff in small island. I walk into the Daeheongdo like a magic view. After I heard gun-shot for the first time in my life, I went to the shelter with some peoples. It was really strange experience.

And I returned to the land by ship with sea police. I realized Korea’s real situation without really meaning to do so. Yes, Korea is a divided country as South and North. In fact, Daeheongdo is calm and peace. News is not exact like a reality. Although wave makes a ripple, it couldn’t make change for island. Like our life, there is more to somebody.

There are rough sand-wind, deep blue sea smell, friendly dialect in Daeheongdo, you can feel theses emotions, when you step on Daeheongdo’s ground with foots. Daeheongdo means the best blue island in Korea, but it is not too famous as the tour place because the Baekryungdo where is the northernmost island in Korea’s west sea.

There are some beautiful places likes Samgak Mountain, strange rocks and bizarre stones and beautiful beach. If you want to go there, I recommend that you have to stay more one night. Because, Daeheongdo’s scenery is beautiful beyond all descriptions even though it is very closed in DMZ.

두눈을 의심했다. 능선을 넘을 때 마다 그 작은 섬안에 사하라 사막이, 마야베이 같은 비밀스러운 바다가, 하늘을 깎아지르는 절벽이 펼쳐졌다. 거짓말 같은 대청도의 풍경 속을 걸었다. 난생처음 영화에서나 듣던 총소리를 실제로 듣고 몇몇 사람들과 대피소에 옹기종기모여 있다가 해경이 불을 밝혀주는 뱃길을 따라 뭍으로 돌아왔다.

덕분에 우리나라가 분단국가라는걸 실감했다. 하지만 현실은 뉴스에서 전해주는 이야기와는 달랐다. 섬은 고고히 푸르고 주민들은 침착했다. 파도가 잔물결을 만든다고 섬이 흔들리지는 않으니까. 모든 것이 그렇 듯 보여지는 것이 전부는 아니다. 까슬한 모래바람과 짙푸른 바다 내음, 투박한 말투에 배여 있는 따뜻한 정은 섬에 두발을 디뎠을 때 비로소 느낄 수 있다.

북한과 가장 인접해 있는 서해 5도에 속하는 섬인 대청도는 서해 최북단섬 백령도에 밀려 관광지로 유명하지는 않다. 하지만 섬 가운데 솟은 해발 343m의 삼각산을 중심으로 기암괴석과 각기 매력이 다른 해변으로 둘러싸여  있어 이국적인 정취를 느낄 수 있는 곳이다. 대청도에 들린다면 반드시 1박 이상을 추천하고 싶다.

About Daecheongdo 
Daecheongdo is a 12.63 square km, 7 kilometres long and 6.3 kilometres wide island in Ongjin County, Incheon, South Korea, located near the Northern Limit Line. The 1953 Korean Armistice Agreement which ended the Korean War specified that the five islands including Daecheong would remain under U.N. and South Korea control. Also, Daecheongdo is loved by many tourists with some beautiful places likes Samgak Mountain, strange rocks and bizarre stones and beautiful beach.

시리도록 푸른 섬, 대청도
마치 사막을 연상케 하는 옥죽동 해변과 삼각산을 중심으로 섬 전체를 메우고 있는 기암괴석은 남태평양의 무인도를 연상케 한다. 대청도, 그 곳의 민낯이 궁금하다. 대한민국 인천광역시 옹진군에 위치한 대청도는 북한과 가장 인접해 있는 서해 5도에 속하는 섬으로 군사적으로도 매우 중요한 요충지다. 인천에서 쾌속선으로 4시간이 소요될 만큼 먼 거리에 있지만 대청도는 뭍 사람들이 보지 못한 아름다운 속살을 감추고 있다. 분명 대청도는 신비로운 섬이다.
