Daelim Museum is a young museum, which interprets young audiences’ taste precisely. Last November, with Ryan McGinley, the American photographer and the international artist whom New York fell in love with, Daelim Museum held an exhibition under the name “Youth, its glorious memory” and narrowed the gap between the public and fine art.

In fact, from the beginning till the end of every exhibition. There is a senior curator Kwon Jung Min who revives each and every art work with her jewelry-like sparkly eyes. CultureM Magazine talks with the senior curator Kwon Jung Min who is once again doing her best to narrow the gaps between the fine arts and the public with the new exhibition “Troika: Sound, Light, Time. Persistent Illusion”.

대림미술관은 관객들의 취향을 정확하게 읽을 줄 아는 젊은 미술관이다. 작년 11월, 미국을 대표하는 세계적인 아티스트, 라이언 맥긴리의 사진전 “청춘, 그 찬란한 기억”을 통해 순수 예술과 대중의 간극을 조금 더 좁히며 대중의 관심을 받았다. 하지만 간과해서는 안되는 사실 한 가지있다.

바로 대림미술관에서 열리는 모든 예술 전시의 시작과 끝에는 수석큐레이터 권정민의  재기발랄한 아이디어가 숨어있다는 점이다. 순수 예술, 그 자체로만 기능하는 박물관이 아닌 일반인들과 소통하는 박물관의 사회적 기능을  강화해 대림미술관을 보다 가까운 현실로 이끌어낸 권정민 수석 큐레이터. 최근 전시중인 “트로이카 : 소리, 빛, 시간. 감성을 깨우는 놀라운 상상”으로 다시 한 번 순수 예술과 대중의 간극을 조금 더 좁혀가고 있는 대림미술관의 수석큐레이터 권정민을 만났다.
