Do you know KANSONG Chun Hyung Pil? 간송 전형필 선생님을 아시나요?

There were countless horrible incedents on Korean peninsula during 35 years of Japanses Colonial period. It is one of our saddest histories. With this history, there was one person we must be remembered proudly by Koreans who live in 2015.

During Japanese colonial period while our souls were stepped on and our family names were taken away, KANSONG Chun Hyung Pil was an educated man who were so concerned of losing our heritage and decided to collect the cultural properties that embodies our spirit and soul.

In 1930, KANSONG Chun Hyung Pil started collecting the cultural properties then established KANSONG Art Museum(previously Bowhagak), Korea’s first private art museum in 1938 in order to preserve and studied these artworks.

CultureM Magazine met with the director of KANSONG Art and Culture Foundation, Chun In Keon and talked about KANSONG exhibition that mediates Korea’s cultural heritage, KANSONG Art Museum, Korea’s very first private art museum and the life of Kansong Chun Hyung Pil.

일제 강점기 35년 동안 한반도에서는 헤아릴 수 없을 만큼 많은 끔찍한 일들이 벌어졌다. 슬픈 과거다. 때문에 2015년을 사는 대한민국 국민으로서 반드시 자랑스럽게 기억해야 할 분이 있다. 조선의 영혼을 짓밟고 제 성과 이름마저 빼앗겼던 일제 강점기 시절, 민족의 혼과 얼이 담겨있는 귀중한 문화재를 수집하며 나라를 걱정한 지식인, 간송 전형필 선생님이 바로 그 분이다.

1930년부터 본격적으로 문화재 수집을 시작한 간송 전형필 선생님은 1938년, 민족의 영혼이 깃든 문화재를 보존하고 연구하기 위해 대한민국 최초의 근대 사립 미술관인 간송미술관(구 보화각)을 설립하셨다. 그리고 77년이 지난 지금까지, 간송미술관은 문화재 연구와 보존의 산실로 그 의미를 더하고 있다.

컬쳐엠매거진이 간송미술문화재단의 전인건 사무국장을 만나 간송 전형필의 삶과 대한민국 최초의 사립미술관인 간송미술관, 그리고 대한민국 문화재의 소중한 가치를 되새기는 간송문화전에 관한 이야기를 나눴다.
