The Irish artist, Aoife Casey’s artwork, ‘The Runaway Part I’ 탈출 그리고 해방

I have started a story board type series of works entitled ‘The Runaway’. The first part of this work is heavily influenced by the psychological thrillers of Alfred Hitcock such as Psycho and The Birds. Hitcock’s stories often feature fugitives on the run.
The first pictures were taken at Gonjiam psychiatric hospital in Gyeonggi-do. There are many stories as to why it closed down. Local legend has it that in 1996, The owner is said to have fled to America when Government officials came investigating reports of numerous patients being mysteriously found dead with no explanations given to their grieving families. It seemed a fitting place to reenact an escape from.
The second location was Hanuel Sky Park in World Cup Stadium Park. The sculpture installation of bird houses lent themselves really well for a backdrop. “How to pursue Life’s Runaway? Let’s go. Forego the moons and waters of the mind: Today is all that you shall find.”
