Beyond imagination, ‘Wooyoungmi AW15 collection’ 우영미의 2015년

Wooyoungmi AW15 collection was set in a scene almost reminiscent of set from a movie; the catwalk was a footbridge that spanned the opening of walkway to the hall. It was just 24hrs ago that I was at the venue Tokyo Art club in Palais de Tokyo and the place had been transformed for the Wooyoungmi AW15 collection.

Backstage the models were getting prepped for the show, a monitor showing a birds eye view of the footbridge and a layout of the space and seating that shows the path the models would be taking. Every single member of the audience for the collection is guarantied to get a great view of the show.

Meticulous attention was paid to the wardrobe fitting backstage, final touches were over seen by Adrien Pinault for make-up and Tomohiro Ohashi doing magic with the hair.

Getting to see the first look of the collection, it was rich in textures and featured heavy coats in greys, burgundy, blues and camel.

The duo Creative Directors, Madame Woo and Katie Chung aspired to capture a moment: Their man is returning home late into the evening. Wandering derelict streets, the day reveals itself in his wound-down style.

The fabric flowed very smoothly, making it easy and comfortable to wear yet the look seemed classical with a modern twist. Introduction of accessories into the line was done in a form of a new signature bag, which was inspired by traditional bank deposit bags.

Overall the collection was very cohesive from the flow of the models to the flow of the fabrics to the blending of the colour palette.
