What i design as my intention is a little bit different for design for someone. Because, i have to consider for someone’s culture. Especially, there are some essential factors when I design for the people where lives strongly influenced by religion. So, it is unquestionably a hard job for them.

But, this working for African children makes me allow the imaginations its full play. Because, their strong life force can overcome any and every color in this world. If I can design in Africa, I will use more colorful fabric. I introduce my works while I think about them.

‘누군가를 위한 옷’을 그린다는 것은 내가 원하는 옷을 그리는 것과는 조금 다르다. 그 사람들의 문화를 고려하지 않을 수 없기 때문이다. 특히 문화가 종교의 영향을 아주 많이 받는 곳에 사는 사람들을 위한 것 일 때는 필수적으로 적용해야 하는 사항들이 있다. 그런 요소들을 고려해 디자인 하기란 틀림없이 까다로운 일이 될 수 밖에 없다.

하지만 아프리카 아이들을 위한 이번 작업은 오히려 나의 상상력을 마음껏 펼칠 수 있게 해주었다. 그들의 강인한 생명력은 그 어떤 화려한 색체에도 눌리지 않기 때문이다. 현지에서 작업을 하게 되면 좀 더 화려한 원단으로 작업을 할 생각이다. 그들을 생각하면서 작업했던 나의 습작을 독자들에게 소개하고자 한다.
