Just a block away from Takeshiba stop on the Tokyo waterfront new Transit Yurikamome line, we made our way to Gallery916 for the 5351 Pour les hommes et les Femmes AW15/16 collection. The backdrop for the event was more business like and it had a cosmopolitan feel to it. Very different from the busy Shibuya hustle and bustle so, we made our way to the industrial building housing Gallery916, which was the event location.
On the 4th floor right outside the elevator, we got ushered into a room where the design team was going over final adjustments for the show. Knowing we were in the wrong location, I asked if I was late? There was this puzzled look on everyone’s face then the head of PR took us to the backstage area where the models were getting prepped for the show. As a matter of fact, we were not late and there was still some time to spare.
The backstage area was setup with makeup and hair station with the respective team member’s lead by Yusuke Seaki for makeup and Dai Michishita leading the hair team.
The models make their way from the hair station to the makeup station, the look we got to see for the hair was a wet hair look on model Monica Jablonczky, with strands of hair contouring the edge of the face in an undulating fashion. The makeup was a dark smoke salmon smoky eye.
For les Hommes the look was more natural strong confident boss look with a neatly kept hair.
The A/W 2015-16 Collection marked the 25th Anniversary for the brand and it was appropriately titled THE NEW RULES.
The styling by Tadashi Mochizuki incorporated a multi layer wardrobe for AW 2015/16. A turtle neck paired with a collar button down shirt acted as the canvas for the ready to wear menswear portion of the collection.
The perfect look for the discerning modern gent. Sleek and sophisticated without looking boring or old fashion is the look for the AW collection.
Fabrics with texture in a greyish color palette dominated the runway. Mid-Length coat in color banded vertical stripes.
Autumn Winter collections don’t have to be dull and this collection is far from it.
Plaid was a feature throughout the season collections and 5351 Pour shows us their take on plaid with a three piece suit of that fabric in red tone with black color as accent.
These are not your grandpa’s suits, the styling of the suits was done with careful consideration for all the elements needed. The shoes, the one side sling and the hats were al accessories that added dimension to the Ready- to -Wear collection.
If you see Red in the Runway is because this A/W collection has more than a few shades of grey, it incorporates Red as a featured color not only as a accent tone in accessories.
The indigenous patterns of this wrap along with the fringe element make it very unique. Paired down with a leather jacket as above and you have a hit for Autumn/Winter.
Called it a Cape, Wrap, Ruana, Poncho, Blanket if you wish, the truth be told this outer garment is making its come back into full gear at the fashion capitals of the world. The garment typical of the Andes region is a form of woolen fabric often used by Native American people and this year fashion hottest trend.
The modern dandy- The look for a young cosmopolitan man ready to embrace style in a fashionable way.
Mid-length plaid coat in grey tones complements the dressy black tie formalwear. Brogues-boots also designed by 5351 Pour.
From an era of decadence and idealism, these look brings out the best from the past to a new generation of fashion connoisseur. Noir fringed dress with subtle details paired with black leather gloves and fur coat.
Modern and bright, not all winter clothes have to be dark. 5351 ET LES FEMMES has a off white alternative for the winter blues.
Stripes and slender silhouetting was achieved by the interpolation of tapered leather pants and a loose overcoat.
The 5351 Pour Les Hommes and et Les Femmes Collection were in synchrony with each other, they both offered a wide choice of autumn winter clothes selections for a variety of uses. From the casual to the semi-formal the selection was vast.
The trends were Plaid, and stripes. The colors were Black, Grey and Red. Don’t forget your Poncho/Wrap and you will be set for Winter 2015.
