There are arts & cultures in Seochon 경복궁의 서쪽, 서촌에는 문화와 예술이 있다

Seochon is one of the oldest neighborhoods of Jongno-gu, Seoul, traditionally associated with Joseon era and Korean literature. In fact, Seochon is located west of the Gyeongbokgung Palace. The area is composed of 13 smaller neighborhoods, such as Chebu-dong, Ogin-dong, Tongin-dong, Hyoja-dong etc. Especially, the place was loved by Korean, because there are many residences of famous authors and artists, art space, vintage café, theatre, gallery. Meanwhile, there is a new art space ‘Space Seoro’ in Seochon where you can meet all kinds of arts.

So, there was the concert ‘THE ONE’ in ‘Space Seoro’ for celebrate first anniversary with a young Korean traditional musician Ahn Yee Ho in 24~25th April. Ahn Yee Ho is the next generation traditional musician in Korea, who sang the ‘Soogungga’, each in its entirety in 2012. And, a Korean violist Lee Shin Gyu & a vocalist Kim Chang Ki will held the concert in May at Space Seoro’ in Seochon as Ahn Yee Ho didi. 경복궁 서쪽에 위치해서 서촌이라 불려온 청운효자동, 사직동, 옥인동, 통인동 일대는 서울에서 가장 고즈넉하고 운치는 곳으로 오랜 시간 많은 사람들의 발길을 불러 모은 곳이다. 아담한 규모의 찻집, 레스토랑, 헌책방 등 다양한 문화공간이 자리 잡은 이 곳에 아담한 소극장이 들어섰다. 60~100석 규모의 관객 밀착형 무대로 대중음악, 국악, 클래식 음악을 중심으로 작은 콘서트와 무용 무대이자 예술과 관객이 만나는 감성 공간 ‘서촌공간 서로’가 바로 그 곳이다.

‘서촌공간 서로’의 개관을 기념하기 위해 지난 4월 24일부터 25일까지 젊은 소리꾼 ‘안이호’가 1인 예술 시리즈 ‘THE ONE’의 첫 무대를 선보였다. 안이호는 2012년의 판소리 ‘수궁가’ 완창과 2014년의 ‘별주부전 이야기 아니오’와 같은 창작판소리작업을 통해 스스로의 정체성 또한 확고히 다져가고 있는 젊은 소리꾼이다. 5월 15~16일에는 비올리스트 이신규가, 29~30일에는 감성보컬리스트 김창기가 ‘서촌공간 서로’에서 차례로 일년 중 가장 아름다운 계절을 수 놓을 예정이다. 컬쳐엠매거진이 ‘서촌공간 서로’의 첫 무대를 장식한 소리꾼 안이호의 공연 모습을 작가 나승렬의 사진으로 공개한다.
