Indicating the labor realities of Korea 나는 누군가의 걸림돌이었다

“Anyway, I am an obstacle for someone in whole wide world”. A Korea cartoonist, Choi Kyu Suk’s webtoon ‘AWL(working title in English)’ was published in three volumes books form by one of the honorable publisher of Korea, CHANGBI publisher. Choi Kyu Suk’s webtoon ‘AWL’ is a prosecution of society style’s webtoon about indicating the labor realities of Korea at the foreign-affiliated mart through two main characters Lee Soo In & Goo Go Shin.

In fact, the cartoonist Choi Kyu Suk prepared this webtoon for a long time. For example, he interviewed the some people who could share the labor realities of Korea such as Lee Kyung Wook(the union head of Carrefour & ELAND trouble in 2007~2008) & Ha Jong Kang(A Korean labor agitator & professor in Sungkonghoe University) etc. Meanwhile, AWL(working title in English) will all publish in five volumes books till the early 2016. Also, it will be made into a movie and drama by end of this year.

“어쨌든 나는 세상 모든 곳에서 누군가의 걸림돌이었다.” 외국계 대형 마트에서 벌어지는 부당해고에 대항하는 노동자들의 이야기를 통해 대한민국 노동현실의 민낯을 조명한 최규석 작가의 웹툰 ‘송곳’이 창비를 통해 3권의 단행본으로 출간됐다.

송곳은 프랑스계 대형마트인 ‘푸르미‘를 배경으로 부당해고 지시를 받은 주인공 이수인과 노동운동가 구고신이 함께 하는 과정을 담아낸 작품이다. 실제로 최규석 작가는 2007~2008년 까르푸–이랜드 사태에 참여했던 이경욱 당시 노조위원장과 노동운동가인 하종강 성공회대 교수 등을 취재하며 작품을 준비해왔으며, 2013년 겨울부터 웹툰 연재를 시작했다. 내년 초까지 총 5권 분량으로 완간 될 계획이며 영화와 드라마를 통해 보다 많은 독자들과 진지한 울림을 함께 나눌 예정이다.
