The city where China’s future grows up, Shanghai 대륙의 두 번째 심장, 상하이

Shanghai is the largest Chinese city by population and the largest city proper by population in the world. It is one of the four direct-controlled municipalities of the People’s Republic of China. Also, Shanghai is a popular tourist destination renowned for its historical landmarks such as The Bund, City God Temple and Yu Garden, Xintiandi as well as the extensive Lujiazui skyline and major museums including the Shanghai Museum and the China Art Museum. Xintiandi is an affluent car-free shopping, eating and entertainment district. The district is composed of an area of reconstituted traditional mid-19th century shikumen(stone gate) houses on narrow alleys, some adjoining houses which now serve as book stores, cafes and restaurants, and shopping malls. It is considered one of the first lifestyle centers in China. It is also the most expensive place to live in China, with some apartments costing more than Tokyo, New York and London. It is home to the Chinese elite and top executive expats.

Yuyuan Garden is an extensive Chinese garden located beside the City God Temple in the northeast of the Old City of Shanghai, China. Yu Garden was first conceived in 1559 during the Ming Dynasty by Pan Yunduan as a comfort for his father, the minister Pan En, in his old age. Pan Yunduan began the project after failing one of the imperial exams, but his appointment as governor of Sichuan postponed construction for nearly twenty years until 1577. The garden was the largest and most prestigious of its era in Shanghai, but eventually its expense helped ruin the Pans.

 

현대 중국 경제와 문화, 상업, 금융, 산업, 통신의 중심지인 상하이는 뉴욕과 런던에 이어 세계에서 세 번째로 큰 금융 중심지이다. 또한 상하이에는 현대적인 건물뿐 아니라 전통적인 건물도 많이 남아 있어 전 세계 관광객들의 발길을 불러 모으고 있다. 중국에서 가장 높은 구조물 중의 하나인 동방명주탑, 본토의 가장 높은 고층건물이자 세계에서 세 번째인 세계금융센터, 중국 최고의 쇼핑거리 신티엔티, 그리고 중국 정원 중에서도 가장 섬세하고 아름답다고 평가 받고 있는 예원까지. 컬쳐엠매거진이 가장 현대적인 모습의 상하이로 대표되는 신티엔티 거리와 전통 그대로의 모습을 간직하고 예원의 모습을 사진으로 공개한다.

신천지라는 뜻의 신티엔디는 상하이를 대표하는 현대적인 쇼핑, 미식, 엔터테인먼트의 거리이다.프랑스 조계시대의 오래된 건축물과 중국의 전통적인 룽탕까지 현대와 과거가 잘 조합된 대표적인 상하이의 관광지로 1년 12달 전 세계 관광객들이 붐비는 곳이기도 하다. 전통적인 룽탕의 전통가옥들, 현대적인 쇼핑몰, 그리고 서점과 까페, 식당을 하는 지역까지 세 구역으로 나뉘며 중국 내에서도 가장 물가가 비싼 곳 중의 한 곳으로 꼽힌다.

상하이 구시가지 푸시의 중앙에 위치하고 있는 명청시대 양식의 정원인 예원은 중국 정원 중에서도 가장 섬세하고 아름답다고 평가 받는 곳이다. 명나라 시대에 개인 정원으로 최초 만들어진 예원은 청나라 시대와 아편전쟁 등을 거쳐 심하게 손상을 입었다가 상하이 시 정부에 의해 보수되었고, 1982년에 국가 단위의 문화재로 공표되었다. 예원의 후신팅은 상하이를 찾는 세계 각국의 유명인사들이 방문을 하여, 사인을 남겨놓은 곳으로도 유명하다. 또한 성황묘와 상하이 라오(상하이 옛거리)는 옛 상하이의 정취를 느낄 수 있는 몇 안 되는 장소 중의 하나이며, 청나라 때의 건물이면서 쇼핑가로 이름난 예원상청도 유명한 볼거리 중의 하나이다.
