This piece is an output of my past piece ‘Dart manipulation’. I made this piece with men’s shirt fabric, which used for the piece ‘Dart manipulation’. Although I made it through the finished product, it was still hard work. So, I worried about the length & shape of skirt’s front & side, the reasonable volume of skirt, fabric’s stripe direction, how to I make the lovely volume of skirt for making perfect skirt. Because, I wanted to make it with fabric real feeling nothing to change. In short, i needed a skirt without a crease.

In fact, I wanted to express the importance of material choice through the piece. Perhaps, unconsciously, l’ve choice the material as i wanted. Make it easier to understand, I took men’s wear fabric for making totally women style clothing. Frankly, it is not so special concept. Because, there is no more man and woman difference for the fashion. But, I just wanted to tell that the piece is totally mine. This is the QE DOCUMENT.

이번 작품은 ‘다트의 활용’과 이어지는 작업의 결과물이다. 당시 만들었던 드레스를 더 다듬고 남성 셔츠 원단을 이용해서 만든 것이다. 완성품을 토대로 만들었지만 여전히 쉽지 않은 작업이었다. 치마 앞 부분의 떨어지는 길이와 옆 부분의 길이와 모양, 어느 정도의 볼륨이 가장 예쁜지, 원단의 스트라이프 방향 선택, 치마 밑단 처리 방법 등 원하는 볼륨을 어떻게 하면 만들 수 있을까를 찾기 위한 고민의 과정을 거쳤다. 셔츠 원단 특유의 곧바로 떨어지는 맛을 극대화 시키고 싶었기 때문이다.

사실 이번 작업에서 내가 말하고 싶은 것은 소재의 선택인데, 지극히 주관적인 나의 심리적인 부분이 무의식 적으로 반영되었기 때문이다. 쉽게 말해, 매우 여성스러운 옷에 남성복에 주로 쓰이는 소재를 선택했다는 것이다. 물론 남녀 패션의 경계가 허물어 진지 오래고, 여성 드레스에 남성 셔츠 원단을 쓴다고 해서 특별할거 하나 없지만 다분히 나의 개인적인 성향을 잘 표현한 작품이라고 말하고 싶다.
