“What do you think about Cinderella’s image as we know? It is generally known that Cinderella is assimilation of typical happy ending thanks to crystal shoes even though she was ill-treated by stepmom and stepsister. But I don’t think so. Will the crystal shoes of Cinderella was just a coincidence for a poor her? Was it happens accidentally on purpose? I reinterpret Cinderella’s story unlike a fairy tale story. She isn’t a poor lady but an astute woman who tempted a prince with a crystal shoes like catching a big fish.” By a Korean painter Kim Hyun Jung

“여러분이 알고 계신 신데렐라의 이미지는 어떠한가요? 일반적으로 알려진 신데렐라는 새엄마와 새 언니의 구박에 시달리며 살다가 우연히 잃어버린 유리구두 한 켤레로 인생이 뒤바뀐 여자죠. 하지만 제가 바라본 신데렐라를 해석하자면, 과연 그 유리구두는 우연이었을까요? 우연을 가장한 필연은 아니었을까요? 동화와는 반대로 신데렐라가 유리구두를 미끼로 왕자라는 월척을 낚아 인생역전을 꿈꿨던 것은 아닌지 그림 속에서 재해석해 보았답니다.” – 한국화 화가 김현정
