Lee Ji Sun’s art life of research, ‘About the waiting’ 기다림에 관하여

According to the clock sounds, the unconscious world of dream presses the button of consciousness. The body is awakened by the consciousness, which begins to follow the heart. Sequentially, the heart beats with the conscious movements, and the mind moves with certain responses of the body, all to start the day.
During the time-flow of the world, the consciousness does something. We make some big or small movements on our own stage of the time for certain moments, and for some other moments, we just look at someone else’s stages, floating on the surface of the time. In other words, life continues by waiting for something and by doing things we have been waiting for.
Early in the morning, opened eyes feel the dimness until the alarm sounds. Then the naked body full of the remaining traces of the last day waits for a hot shower. Hoarse throat is in the habit of calling for the first sip of morning coffee.
Slowly waking up and feeling hungry, students fix the eyes on the clock which will ring for their lunch time, and workers sitting in their repetitive day keep imagining the moment of going back to the warm shelter. Teenagers wait for their 20s for other reasons than those of the 20s who will soon face to their 30s. A kid dreams of his/her birthday of the next year, that some people want to put in the farthest distance.
The atmosphere of the night before the interview transforms into something different at the moment just before it, and the feelings renew again on the first day of work once the moment of waiting for the result is completed. The one who always arrives earlier than the appointed time naturally waits for the friends, and the other with tangled steps eagerly waits for the bus which even seems to slow down. The arrival gate of the airport appears both familiar and strange to a father waiting for his daughter living abroad. For the host who invited people he/she recently is getting closer, little sounds of the outside come louder until the people arrive.
By the time where winter passes away, people wait for a sunny summer, and those melted by the heat just wants back lonely but cool autumn breeze. While the promised waiting like the season’s cycle grows the fruits day after day, the unpromising waiting only with misunderstandings and imagination weakens the hard seeds. Crossed waiting makes another discrepancy, which finally staggers to the destiny.
After waiting for the presentation of a brilliant idea to the professor, the idea gets shapes in the sketch, and the plane image develops into a moving image. The process is filled with making and waiting which is fragmented into little pieces. A long duration to render a finished video paralyzes the tired eyes, but the short moment where the artist waits for the reaction of the spectator in front of the work sharpens the senses.
The time to go to greet a new life progressively harden the waiting person, and the one who is waiting for the death looks back the world which hardens itself. The waiting revealed in excitement and satisfaction, or expectations and disappointments, having no time for its completion, calls the start of many other things to wait for.
