“Music is not knowledge or music art isn’t about showing off your skills. Its beauty is a gift from sky so if we can enjoy the beauty more than our spirit can be in higher place and feel more beautiful. Above everything each of us must try to be that way first.”

As a pianist, Kim Joo Young just lives in music because he loves music. Moreover, he doesn’t need to be called an artist. That’s all. So he wants people to know that classical music is good and beautiful because he finds the music is good and beautiful. He just started it simply because he wanted to be with music one more second and minute of his life.

And he doesn’t forget some messages for people who study to be a musician. “My message is simply. Live 24 hours as a musician. That’s it. I try to live that way, as I am not perfect. To put it simply, there is a certain process.”If you want to be true to your conscience then live the earnest life. But it can’t be forced. It comes down to how much do I like or love the music and do I want to be with the music everyday. So I believe that the first thing to prepare is your heart that wants music.” CultureM Magazine meets a Korean pianist Kim Joo Young who knows the real meaning of art for communicating with public.

“음악은 단순한 지식이 아니고 음악을 연주하는 것은 누군가에게 보여주기 위한 기술이 아닙니다. 음악, 그 자체의 아름다움을 즐기기 위한 열려있는 마음가짐이 제일 중요하며 가감 없이 그대로를 받아드릴 수 있는 자세가 필요하다고 생각합니다.”

서울대 음대 기악과에서 피아노를 전공하고 러시아 모스크바 국립음악원 대학원 및 연주 박사 과정을 졸업한 김주영은 대한민국 클래식계에서 꽤나 알려진 피아니스트다. 또한 후학 양성을 위한 강단과 라디오, 방송, 개인 저술 활동 등 굉장히 다양한 활동을 해온 팔방미인 피아니스트로도 널리 알려져 있다. 컬쳐엠매거진이 제 81회 아트엠콘서트의 메인 게스트로 출연할 피아니스트 김주영을 만나 음악과 관련된 이야기를 나눴다.
