FEIGN : Fantastic Stir-fried Rice

“During I draw ‘Feign girl’ series, I think deeply what is the most Korean style, and how I draw it on a small canvas. Eventually, I think maybe the most Korean style is thing what I need thing when I stay abroad. We can’t feel it because it is so friendly like the air, maybe these things are the most Korean style for representing 21s Korea.”

“When I stay abroad, I really miss Stir fried Rice Cake(Tteok-bokki). I gave my work book & invitation ticket for my exhibition to owner(the woman in the piece) of Fantastic Stir – fried Rice Cake. I drew ‘Fantastic Stir – fried Rice Cake cart bar’ where located nearby Gangnam station of exit 10 and the owner of cart bar.” By a Korean painter, Kim Hyun Jung 

내숭 : 환상의 떡볶이

“내숭녀 작업을 진행하면서, 가장 한국적인 것이 과연 무엇이고, 어떻게 한 장에 담을 수 있을지 늘 고민하는데요. 바로 해외에 가면 떠오르는 것이 한국적인 것이 아닐까 생각이 듭니다. 공기같이 너무 익숙하기 때문에 느끼지 못하는 것들, 그런 것들이 바로 21세기를 표현하는 가장 한국적인 것이 아닐까요? 저는 외국에 나가면, 가장 생각나는 음식이 떡볶이입니다. 이 그림을 완성한 후 작품집과 전시 초대 티켓을 환상의 떡볶이집 아주머니께 선물해드렸답니다. 많은 외국인들이 찾는 강남역 10번 출구 골목에 실제로 있는 “환상의 떡볶이”집과 주인아주머니의 모습을 그림으로 담아냈습니다.” – 한국 화가 김현정
