줄지어 기록된 자음과 모음은 각각의 소리를 머릿속에 울린다. 소리는 마음에 모아져 공간으로 퍼진다. 파편처럼 흩어진 낱말들은 단어가 되어 합을 이루고 서로 다른 오선지에 자리를 잡는다. 음표와 쉼표의 리듬에 맞춰 연주된 이야기는 한편의 삶을 구성한다. 퍼즐에 마지막 조각을 끼운다. 그리고 다시 조각을 쏟아낸다.
Aligned consonants and vowels vibrate their distinct sound in mind. The sounds accumulate at the heart and escape into open space. The fragmentary syllables harmonize into words that each takes its place on the musical scope. According to the rhythm of notes and rests, a story is played, composing a piece of life. The final piece completes the puzzle.
티끌 하나 없는 유리구슬은 연약한 빛 마저 고스란히 동그란 몸집에 담아 가장 진하고 밝은 점을 만들어 품는다. 어디로든 막힘 없이 굴러갈 준비가 되어있는 동그란 물방울은 차가운 허공을 가로질러 바닥으로 떨어진다.
After leading the ink grains to their purposed spots, transparent water droplets fly into the air. The weight of the wildly filled paper is not different from when it was still empty. The ink has penetrated to the deepest part of the paper and became the one.
기차에 앉아 몇 시간이고 바라보는 기다란 창문에는 영사기 보다 빠르게 길의 장면들이 지나가고, 보다 더 멀리 몸을 싣고 날아가는 비행기의 창문은 여행에 한껏 들뜬 마음만큼 높은 하늘을 눈앞에 열어놓는다. 얼굴에 달린 두 개의 창문은 안과 밖의 세상을 동시에 담고, 마음에 달린 창문에는 다양한 빛이 켜고 진다.
By the window next to the seat in a running train, continuous sequences pass more quickly than the film projection, and the farthest sky feels closer by the window of an airplane, flying farther and higher. Finally, there are two round windows on the face, which contain and reflect both inside and outside. By the one middle of the heart, countless lights are turned on and off.
윗면이 옆면을 닮고, 빛이 비추는 앞면과 그림자 지는 뒷면까지, 큐브를 이루는 똑같은 크기와 모양의 여섯 개의 면은 제각기 다른 방향을 바라본다. 동그란 공처럼 굴러가지도, 세모난 피라미드처럼 하늘높이를 찌르지도 못하지만 한자리에 머물러 있는 네모는 더욱더 비밀스러운 여행을 한다.
I unfold the cube to draw a map, then refold it to contain the space. Grabbing the little dice in one hand, I install a lamp in a square room from which stories would be born with another. Soon, I throw the dice and open the box where I put a memory inside and pull an imagination outside.
You can visit Lee Ji Sun’s the 2nd solo exhibition from 28th August to 11th September in Scalatium Artspace Sangam, Seoul. In the exhibition, she shows some pieces which inspired by these four selected words(Chance, Fate, Nature, Story), she presents serial drawings echoing with each one of them, and two videos.
다양한 시간과 공간에서 뿜어져 나오는 서로 다른 색의 향기는 누군가에게는 아름다움으로 느껴지기도 하고, 또 다른 이 에게는 현기증을 불러일으킨다. 몸을 감싸는 어제와 다른 오늘의 색이 하나의 분위기로 나의 겉모습을 완성하고, 화분에 심어진 꽃도 시간에 따라 톤을 바꾼다.
