바쁘게 교차하는 발걸음을 바라보는 사람, 핸드폰 위 손가락을 따라 이미지를 넘겨가는 사람, 길을 잃게 만드는 이정표를 따라가는 사람. 길거리에 지나가는 사람들은 대화가 없다. 현란한 색의 아지랑이에 초점을 잃었던 눈이 또 다른 눈동자를 만나 바라볼 것을 찾는다.

People looking down their busy walking footsteps, people handling images which slide according to their finger movement on the phone screen, people following indications which make them to get lost.

새로운 생명을 맞이하기까지의 시간은 단계별로 나누어져 기다리는 이를 다져가고, 죽음을 기다리는 이는 세상의 다져감을 다시 한번 바라본다. 설렘과 만족, 혹은 기대와 실망으로 드러나는 기다림은 끝을 마무리할 새도 없이 더 많은 기다림의 시작을 부른다.

Recently, she released the 4th solo exhibition, ‘Round Stories, Square Faces, Curvy Times’ in order to tell the stories of newly created ‘time’ and ‘memory’ from the artist’s perspective through the video project and abstract drawings. CultureM Magazine talked with a Korean artist Lee Ji Sun.

관심은 아주 작은 차이에서 시작된다. 패턴과도 같은 일상에서 삐져 나온 실밥이나, 표정이 그려지지 않은 마스크 사이에 보이는 얼굴, 먼지를 닦아낸 창가로 보이는 하늘의 색, 무채색의 달력에 동그라미 쳐진 날짜나 보지 않을 때에도 그려지는 어떤 것, 듣지 않아도 들을 수 있는 어떤 말. 결국 관심은 움직임이 되고 생명이 된다.

스르르 몸이 풀리고 눈꺼풀을 올린다. 함께 누워있던 핸드폰의 배꼽을 눌러 눈부신 화면이 켜지고 어렴풋이 숫자를 읽어 시간을 인지한다. 아직. 지난밤 소리 없이 남겨진 메시지는 시공간을 초월한 듯 빨간 배지를 달고 있다. 곧이어 알람이 울린다. 7시 7분. 창 밖으로 지나가는 청소차의 굉음을 따라 몇 대의 자동차들도 비교적 작은 소리를 내면서 지나간다.

Unconsciousness standing in the dim boundaries between yesterday and today finally wakes up, by drawing a smile next to the others filled one after one in the calendar. Following the untouchable repetition, but feeling the smallest differences, the morning ritual is almost done. After I swipe away yesterday chips with fallen hair, I put together the pieces of notes and dreams scattered in every corner, to make the phrase of the day.
