An adult who dreams like a boy, cellist Moon Woong Hwee 첼리스트 문웅휘를 만나다

Cellist Moon Woong Hwee is a genuinely kind person. It’s hard to imagine his explosive performance on the stage when you hear his soft and gentle voice and see his kind appearance. However when he talks about cello and music, he looks just like when he was a kid, who first held the cello bow in his hand. Graduating from Korea National University of Arts after studying under Jung Myung Wha and Park No Yool, he entered the international music world by winning third place at the International Cello Concourse Penderecki.
He also works as a member of Novus Quartet, and he became the first Korean to win second place at the one of the most prestigious music concourses, the 61st Germany ARD International Concourse. He dreams like a boy and loves music itself, Moon Woong Hwee. CultureM Magazine meets with Moon Woong Hwee.

첼리스트 문웅휘는 천성이 착한 연주가다. 나긋나긋 조용한 말투와 선한 외모만 봐서는 결코 무대 위에서 폭발하는 모습을 상상하기 힘들지만, 첼로와 음악을 이야기 할 때는 활을 처음 손에 쥐었던 어릴 적 모습이 표정에서 그대로 묻어나기 때문이다. 한국예술종합학교을 졸업하고 박노을과 정명화를 사사한 그는 2013년 팬데레츠키 국제 첼로 콩쿠르에서 3위에 입상하며 활동 무대를 세계로 넓혔다.
또한 현악 4중주 그룹인 노부스 콰르텟의 멤버로 활동하며 세계 실내악 콩쿠르로서 최고의 권위를 자랑하는 제 61회 독일 ARD 국제 콩쿠르에서 현악사중주부문에서 한국인 연주자로서는 최초로 2위를 수상하기도 했다. 소년처럼 꿈꾸고 있는 그대로의 음악을 사랑하는 첼리스트 문웅휘. 컬쳐엠매거진이 첼리스트 문웅휘를 만났다.
