A genius Korean painter, Lee Jung Seop’s story “A family on the road” 천재화가 이중섭을 만나다

The most representative of Korean original theater “A family on the road(written by Kim Eui Kyung, directed by Lee Yun Taek) at MyeongDong Theatre from 24 June to 13 July. A family on the road is an original theater which it tells about a genius Korean painter, Lee Jung Seop’s art & life story.

When it was going to have its premiere in 1991, “A family on the road” was loved by audiences and experts through the influence of sensual direction, excellent performance of the actors, great stage objet which it stimulates child’s mind. So, “A family on the road” was awarded several prize at Seoul international theatre festival. Especially, MyeongDong Theatre is planning to extend its Korean theatre abroad by “A family on the road”. 6월 24일부터 7월 13일까지 한국 대표 창작극 ‘길 떠나는 가족(김의경 작, 이윤택 연출)’이 명동예술극장에서 막을 올린다. ‘길 떠나는 가족’은 대한민국이 낳은 천재화가 이중섭의 드라마틱한 인생과 예술세계를 그린 작품이다. 1991년 초연 당시 이윤택 감독의 감각적 연출과 배우들의 호연, 이영란 미술감독의 동심을 자극하는 오브제가 관객과 평단의 극찬을 받으며 서울연극제 작품상, 희곡상, 연기상 등을 수상하기도 했다.

23년 만에 원년멤버 다시 만나 재현하는 초연의 감동, 그리고 배우 지현준이 이중섭으로 출연하는 이번 작품으로 명동예술극장은 우수 창작극의 레퍼토리화 가능성을 모색하면서 해외진출까지 추진할 예정이다. 컬쳐엠매거진의 컨트리뷰터로 활동하고 있는 사진작가 나승렬이무대 위에서 부활한 이중섭의 모습을 담아냈다.
