WAX & Ember Glow’s project album “SPARK” 왁스가 엠버글로우를 만나면

WAX who sings love and life and speaks for women is back again with a project album with Ember Glow after her previous single ‘Coin Laundry’ released in January of 2014. In fact, she has released nine albums and digital single albums. Aside from singing, she made her acting debut in 2007. She was cast as the main actress in the musical Fixing My Makeup, whose plot is based on her song of the same name. Her hit-songs include Fixing My Makeup and Please. She has won three Golden Disk Awards, one each year from 2001 to 2003.

In this project album ‘Spark’, rockish and exciting pop songs and ballad tracks are well balanced. WAX plans to show herself as the female rocker she once was in the rock band “Dog” singing “Oppa” and “Money”. The last title song “Fly high” tells about a biased music genre to the young generation K-pop singers. Also this title song is kind of rock mixed British pop and 1980’s base sound which emphasized powerful guitar sound & base reef.

여자들의 사랑과 인생을 노래하며 여심을 대변해온 ‘원조 발라드의 여왕’ 왁스가 올해 1월 달에 발표한 디지털 싱글 “Coin Laundry”에 이어, 엠버 글로우(Ember Glow)와 함께한 프로젝트 앨범 “SPARK”를 발표했다. 엠버글로우는 신예 작곡가 홍준석과 미국 유명 팝 밴드 ‘더 콜링(The Calling)’ 출신 빌리 몰러(Billy Mohler)로 구성된 작곡-프로듀싱 프로젝트 그룹이다

이번 프로젝트 앨범 “SPARK”에는 발라드뿐만 아니라 록과 팝을 넘나드는 다양한 장르의 곡을 담아내 대한민국을 대표하는 여성 로커, 왁스의 색깔을 충분히 표현했다. “숨겨둔 절반의 사랑”, “‘힘내”와 함께 트리플 타이틀 곡 중 하나인 “비상”은 특정 장르에만 집중하는 가요계의 현실에 꼬집는 브릿팝과 1980년대 유행했던 베이스 사운드를 절묘하게 버무린 노래다.
