BTS’s first regular album, “DARK & WILD” 힙합하는 아이돌, 방탄소년단

We aren’t anymore boys as you see. Yes, they are changed. A Korean hip-hop boy group, BTS(Bangtan Boys) releases their first regular album “DARK & WILD” after debut. In fact, BTS is a South Korean seven-member hip-hop boy group formed by Big Hit Entertainment, a company. They debuted on June 13, 2013 with their first title song No More Dream followed by We Are Bulletproof Pt.II. And during 1 year 2 months, they was kept running for theirs first regular album, “DARK & WILD”

There are 14 songs included title song, “DARK & WILD”. The title song “Danger” is a hybrid hip-hop song where funk rock guitar, hip-hop groove, and club tune are all mixed together. Guitarist Grecco Burratto from Shakira’s live band participated in recording the song for its high quality sound.

BTS focused on making it sound more like American hip-hop. The music video focuses on performance. BTS shows perfect group dance in factory and subway settings. In particular, the scene that was shot on the floor filled with water is chosen to be the best scene in the entire music video. With all seven members’ flashy foot moves and the splashes of water together made it look great.

소년들이 남자가 되었다. 착하고 순한 말 잘 듣는 소년은 이제 거칠게 사랑을 갈구하는 남자가 된 것이다. 방시혁의 아이들 방탄소년단이 데뷔 후 첫 정규앨범 “DARK & WILD”를 발표했다. 진, 랩몬스터, 슈가, 제이홉, 지민, 뷔, 정국까지 총 7명의 구성원으로 구성된 힙합 아이돌 그룹, 방탄소년단은 2013년 6월, 첫 번째 싱글앨범 “2 COOL 4 SKOOL”를 발매, 같은 해 9월에는 첫 번째 미니앨범 “O!RUL8,2?”를 발표했다. 그리고 2014년 2월에는 두 번째 미니앨범 “Skool luv Affair”를 발표하며 힙합 아이돌 그룹으로서의 정체성을 확고히 해 왔다.

총 14곡이 담긴 첫 번째 정규앨범 “DARK & WILD”는 비주얼, 퍼포먼스 등 모든 면에 완벽을 기했만 역시 음악에 가장 많은 힘을 실었다. 사우스(South), 웨스트(West), 붐뱁(Boom Bap), 트랩(Trap) 등 힙합의 장르적 특성을 살린 트랙을 대거 수록해, 방탄소년단의 음악적 방향성을 명확히 제시한 것. 타이틀곡 ‘Danger’는 펑크록 기타 사운드의 하이브리드 힙합 곡으로, 직설적인 랩, 파워풀한 후렴구와 시원한 샤우팅을 담아냈다.

특히 팝스타 샤키라의 라이브 밴드에서 기타를 맡고 있는 그레코 브라토 (Grecco Burratto)가 ‘Danger’의 세션으로 참여해, 수준 높은 사운드를 만들어냈다. 데뷔 후 1년 2개월 동안 보다 완성도 높은 첫 번째 정규앨범을 향해 달려온 방탄소년단. 올 가을, YG의 WINNER와 함께 K-pop을 뒤 흔들 방탄소년단의 약진이 벌써부터 기대된다
